Principle #3: Probabilities versus Possibilities

Coming to grips with a new future can be daunting, but it should begin with looking at the possibilities and opportunities. If you can’t see at least some of the possibilities or opportunities that God might open up for you, you need to spend some time on this principle.

Most of us make plans for the future based on our past. We forget that the future is uncharted territory. If we plan for it according to our past and present, that’s pretty much all we’ll have in the future.

What are God’s possibilities in your life? When God looks at you, what kind of potential does He see? Where does God want to take you? Just how big are God’s plans for your life?

For nothing is impossible with God.Luke 1:37

That verse is huge! If we don’t really believe it then we can’t possibly be ready to accept it as truth with all its implications in our personal life.

If we don’t really believe that in our life everything is possible with God, it affects the way we live. We get discouraged and in bondage.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country." Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.Exodus 6:1,9

It amazes me that some people accept a lifestyle of discouragement and bondage. They just seem to give up and assume that is how it will be for the rest of their life.

Why would you succumb to that? For the same reason the Israelites did. They couldn’t see beyond the realities of their lives…

…The truth is that most of us think in probabilities. We look at our circumstances, and we plan for what we consider to be the most probable thing that will happen. We define God by our circumstances and the probabilities of what we think will happen.

But God thinks in possibilities…
